The LHA Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD) consists of five classroom modules and one online theory course. When combined these modules lead (subject to successful assessment) to the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD). London Hypnotherapy Academy (LHA) has a two-stage qualification process which allows students to start their professional practice under supervision after successful completion of all face to face classroom sessions, case studies and question papers for each module.
In order to gain your practitioner diploma you are required to complete all five modules. Training courses are run either at the weekends; approximately one weekend per month or weekdays spread over two consecutive weeks. You can mix and match weekend and weekday modules to suit your life. It takes between six months to a year to complete all the face to face practical classroom sessions.
At the end of each of the face-to-face modules there is a short question paper to complete, as well as an assignment in the form of a practical case study. Here you will work with a volunteer client for a minimum of three therapy sessions. The first session of each case study needs to be audio recorded and the whole case study needs to be written up to be submitted to the college for assessment.
Once you have completed the practical training and your case studies and question papers have been marked and successfully assessed, you will be granted the LHA Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis and you will be eligible to join the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) as a registered member and the Association for Professional Hypnosis & Psychotherapy (APHP) as a licentiate member. You will then be able to set up your professional hypnotherapy practice, under supervision if you wish.
The NCFE is recognised as an Awarding Organisation by the qualification regulators for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The NCH has been approved as an NCFE centre and the HPD has been accredited by the NCFE to guarantee that it is of a high standard and meets the rigorous requirements of a national awarding organisation. NCFE accreditation gives assurance that the content of a training course is of a high standard and meets the rigorous requirements of a national awarding organisation. NCFE accreditation also gives formal recognition to our courses which result in the ‘award’ of a certificate of achievement. This award does not qualify you for a nationally recognised qualification.
How you will gain the NCfE HPD (NCH)
All students are trained and prepared for the completion of the externally awarded, NCH Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma – HPD (NCH). Although we encourage all students to complete this second stage of qualification, it is optional. If you wish to achieve this qualification, there is a one-off registration and assessment fee of £175. There is no formal written examination, but there is a portfolio of evidence containing a long question paper (Learning Outcomes or LO’s) which you complete in your own time. This can be done while you are still attending your classroom training, but can be completed and submitted up to 12 months after the end of your face to face training.
In order to support your development and learning, LHA students are invited to submit their portfolio question paper to our NCH assessor twice. This gives you the opportunity to receive supportive feedback on the first submission and to re-submit your work for further assessment. After assessment and verification students completing the second stage will receive the HPD (NCH).
